Cornwallis Academy now has three formal partnerships which allow us unique access to the support and resources of local universities and their staff. This support with enable us to further develop our students, offering them the opportunity to sample university life, as well as further their knowledge in key curriculum areas, therefore helping them improve their results.
Kent & Medway Progression Federation (KMPF) is a partnership organisation bringing together local universities, including the two listed below and the University of the Creative Arts, along with local selective and non-selective secondary schools and local authorities. Its aim is to raise the aspirations of our students and to encourage them to consider higher education.
University of Kent: Our partnership with the University allows us even more access to support from their subject specialists, helping our staff to further the students' knowledge as well as offering stretch and challenge opportunities. We have already undertaken lots of activities with Kent, including subject taster days, study skills sessions and events like The Science Extravaganza. In addition students from our school who chose to attend the University to further their study maybe eligible for sponsorship support.
Canterbury Christ Church University: Working in partnership with this University gives us access to their specialist staff and enables us to support with areas like study skills and research skills. Their degree offering is different to Kent and traditionally we have had a lot of students go on to study at Christ Church. This partnership helps us to support students with the transition from secondary to degree level study.
