NLL's Got Talent
Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists kept students entertained with performances focused on the importance of e-safety and wellbeing at two Maidstone schools.
Dance duo Misunderstood, made up of Stephan Benson and Jeffrey Okyere, staged a series of shows at Cornwallis Academy on Friday, January 13 and New Line Learning Academy on Monday, January 16.
Students in Years 7 to 11 were invited to watch the performances, which included discussions on a number of wellbeing issues, such as how to stay safe online, the meaning of British Values and the consequences of cyber bullying.
The musical pair, who reached the semi-finals of the talent show in 2010 as part of the dance troupe Myztikal, also sang a couple of their singles, also reflected on their own experiences with cyber bullying and gave examples of how sharing personal information online could put young people at risk.
Sean McMahon, wellbeing lead at NLL, said: “The performances by Misunderstood delivered a number of importance messages in a fun and engaging way. The students asked questions and took on board the importance of staying safe online and the dangers of cyber bullying, as well as the true meaning of British Values. The singing and dance offs were also a big hit with the year groups!”
