Our Vision and Ethos
Our vision is (to):
Ensure that all our young people have high expectations, outstanding achievement and reach their full potential, as well being prepared for both work and life.
These are the core values of all FST schools:
Outstanding progress and achievement: all our learners are supported to reach their academic potential, as measured by national standards and by our schools' high expectations, to allow them to successfully progress into further and higher education, training and gainful employment.
Well-being: all our schools strive to create a culture that promotes mutual respect through positive working relationships and personal responsibility, placing emphasis on individual fulfilment, self awareness, emotional intelligence and positive character traits.
All-through schools serving the local community: early intervention provides the best outcomes and we are therefore committed to developing all through schools from 0 to 18 with enhanced family support, in partnership with our parents and with extended community engagement, facilitating success beyond our Academy.
Innovative learning environments: large plaza spaces provide stimulating environments, designed to impact positively on pupils' and students' attitudes to learning; they foster group work, provide more space than conventional classrooms and allow a flexible use of work space; technology is embedded within the working environment to support teaching and to model 21st Century working practices as well as foster a culture of creativity.
Improved teaching practice: staff collaborating rather than in isolation, making choices about how they manage their work equitably, developing best practice and creativity to produce outstanding, autonomous learners. Project based learning develops research skills, and teachers become facilitators.
Data and personalised programmes: all our schools are rich in data, which is used to reflect learner and institutional achievement on a weekly and termly basis, based on local and national comparators; this is used to support effective teachers in improving their expectations of young people.
Training: our model focuses on improving lesson quality, with teachers learning from each other and informed by data collected from our management information systems. We believe in lifelong learning fostering the ambitions of staff as well as pupils and students.
