Student Makes TV Debut
A Cornwallis Academy student had made her TV debut in Lloyds Bank’s latest advert.
Autumn Gale appears at the start of the commercial, covering hay bales during a heavy downpour, when the company’s iconic black horse gallops past to a theatrical version of Praise You by Fatboy Silm.
The 14-year-old travelled to Brecon Beacons, in Wales, to film her part in freezing temperatures alongside the famous horse, which had three body doubles on set. She said: “I was wearing seven layers of clothing, including a heat pack but it was still really cold.
“I was really excited when I found out I had got the part. I was selected first and then they auditioned people for the role of my dad. It was a great experience and something I would want to do again.”
The Year 9 student, who lives in Langley, has a passion for all aspects of performing arts, including music, dance and acting. She has appeared in a number of West End show, including The Secret Garden and will soon be featuring in the upcoming production of 13 The Musical, but this has been her first experience of featuring on television.
Autumn said: “I’ve had quite a few messages since the advert aired from people saying they’ve seen me on the TV, which is really cool and a bit surreal.”
April Watts, Head of Performing Arts at Cornwallis Academy, in Hubbards Lane, Linton, said: “Autumn is a fantastic student and really enjoys all areas of performing arts. She is always involved with every production, whether it’s a music concert, a dance show or a drama performance and she always gives 110%. I look forward to seeing her continue to shine on screen and on the stage.”
