Cutting-edge Academy hosts Microsoft Conference

More than 300 visitors attended a Microsoft Conference at New Line Learning Academy on Tuesday 11 January 2011.

During the Partners in Learning Innovative School Workshop and Tour, invited quests from schools all over the world experienced NLL's cutting-edge, 21st century learning environment as well as participating in a variety of workshops that covered innovative education practices and new models for learning.

Topics included in the workshops were:

• Learning Environment
• Professional Development
• Innovative Teaching and Learning Practices
• Technology Innovations
• Shape the Future

Guests also enjoyed presentations from James Bernard, the Director of Partners in Learning at Microsoft Corporation and Dr Chris Gerry, Executive Principal of Future Schools Trust.

Students in the sixth form conducted tours of the Academy. Meanwhile, those students who speak English as an additional language showcased their talents by conversing with their guests in Portuguese, Polish, Spanish, French, Lithuanian, Nepalese and Kurdish. They also joined their global visitors for a spectacular buffet in the Academy's dining area prepared by the Catering Team.

NLL Academy is one of two secondary schools run by Future Schools Trust in Maidstone. The new building has been creatively designed to instill passion into the student's learning journey and prepare them for the world of work.
