The Prime Minister makes a surprise visit to NLL

The Prime Minister made a surprise visit to New Line Learning (NLL) Academy on Tuesday 26 April, where he met Academy staff and students and gave a speech to Conservative supporters ahead of next week's local elections.

Mr Cameron's visit was organised with Maidstone and the Weald MP Helen Grant, who introduced the Prime Minister before he spoke to around 100 invited guests which included members of the press, and fellow, Tory MPs Rehman Chishti and Tracey Crouch.

Head of Academy, Guy Hewett said: "We were honoured and delighted that the Prime Minister chose to visit our Academy. We are proud of the huge success we've achieved here at NLL, highlighting what the Academies programme can do for young people.

Mr Cameron was fantastic on the day in the way he took time to chat both to our young people and to the dedicated staff at NLL. The fact that the Prime Minister actually came to their school and spoke to them, shook their hands and even "high-fived" will stay with these young people throughout their futures, and act as an inspiration to them."

Mr Hewett concluded: "I'd like to personally thank both the Prime Minister and Helen Grant, who made this happen."

Deputy Head Boy, Sean Boelitz, was one of the lucky students that got to chat with Mr Cameron and said about the PM: "It was great that David Cameron came to our Academy. He was really friendly and approachable and asked what I wanted to do when I left school. I'm so pleased I got to meet him - it felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity."
