New builds are a hub for community activities

New Line Learning and Cornwallis Academies, in Maidstone, both part of Future Schools Trust, have recently been rebuilt costing in the region of £62million. Since opening their superb facilities both Academies have become a hub for a variety of community groups and clubs.

The buildings, designed to enhance and improve students' education, are available to hire by local businesses, community groups and individuals seven days a week.

NLL and Cornwallis Academies' versatile spaces are used by a number of prominent community groups and clubs including:
· Kent Music
· Orchestra One www.facebook.com/ORCHESTRAONE
· Flair School of Dance
· The Kent Afghan Community
· Reel Eire Irish Dance
· Weight Watchers
In addition a number of local sports clubs hire amenities across both sites ensuring they are always abuzz with activities such as karate, hockey, football, American football, table tennis, badminton, basketball, netball and cricket.

At Future Schools Trust we provide a range of services and activities outside the school day to engage and meet the needs of our wider community. We offer an ever-increasing programme of adult and family activities including Zumba, Bollywood Dance, Yoga, Chinese Saturday School and Cake Making lessons.

Alison Elliott, from the Community Team responsible for lettings and course bookings, says: "At Future Schools Trust we strive to develop good community links and respond to community needs wherever possible. Later this year the Heartspace at NLL is hosting a diverse range of activities which include an orchestral performance, Islamic wedding reception, a pantomime and fashion show!"
