Governing Body

Future Schools Trust has a governing body made up of 14 governors. The chair of governors is Mr Ray Harris. The governing body is responsible for ensuring that Future Schools Trust (which comprises Cornwallis Academy and NLL Academy) operates effectively to promote pupil achievement.

Its duties include:

• setting strategic direction, policies and objectives
• approving the academies' budget
• reviewing progress against the academies' budget and objectives
• working closely with the Executive Principal and both head of academies

The governing body is made up of:

• parent governors (elected by parents)
• staff representatives (elected by academy staff)
• local authority governor (appointed by the local authority)
• community governors (members of the local community appointed by the governing body)
• sponsor governors (appointed by the sponsors of the academy)

Governing bodies make their decisions based on the advice of committees that deal with specific issues, such as finance, personnel and the academies' curriculum.
